Contraception

When does a new fetus become conscious within the womb?

Yes, Teresa, this is an excellent question. As the fetus develops from a single cell and divides and multiplies into a human being, a baby if you will, the consciousness of the new soul does not enter the body of the mother until about five months into gestation. But the soul monitors the formation of fetus from conception on. The soul observes the evolution of the body that it is to inhabit and waits until it is almost fully formed before it moves into the actual fetus.

When does the fetus begin to feel pain?

The soul of the new body that is forming will start to connect to the fetus after about three months or so.  It does not necessarily inhabit the body that is developing within the mother but it does observe the formation of the body as it matures within the womb. The soul will not immerse itself within the developing fetus until it is formed enough for a certain comfortable well-being, if you will. It will begin to completely immerse itself within the little body at about seven months and it will begin to become more of a functioning human being at that time.

What is the safest maximum amount of time in the womb for a fetus to be aborted without feeling pain?

We would suggest that it is best to not go beyond five months.  The fifth month is when the soul is connected to the fetus yet not completely immersed.  It will perceive the destruction of the fetus on a certain level at five months.

Is there a karmic debt created by a woman aborting a fetus up until five months?

There can be situations within a mother’s life where a child would not be well received. And our suggestion is that it would be best up until this time for the child itself to be aborted if it is not wanted.  There are many situations where children are raised in unwanted situations, and it is probably best for the well-being of all that the life is terminated.  But there is some karmic debt to the taking of life by the mother. There is a feeling of intense loss afterwards, even if she understands conceptually that it is for the best.  There will usually be a feeling of loss for the life that is surgically removed and can be emotionally painful for a woman who is pregnant.

It is best if the woman practices with her partner some form of contraception so that the actual creation of life does not occur.  This is the optimal way to solve the situation. The more that there is educational material within the arena of a young woman’s life to understand how to prevent conception, the better off the mother, the child, and society are concerned. Our suggestion is to have women support women in disseminating the information so that it is a private understanding of the nature of the body.

The current presidential administration in power wishes to defund Planned Parenthood. Is this going to hurt the ability of women who are not financially well-off to receive the accurate information about conception and contraception?

There will be a backlash, Teresa. Many will find other ways of learning how to keep from getting pregnant and support will come from organizations that will crop up that perhaps are not funded by the federal government. The more progressive states will offer literature to young women so that they have access to the ability to prevent conception.

There was a suggestion that women be allowed to have access to contraception by just buying it over-the-counter at the local drugstore. Is this a good idea?

Very much so. This will enhance the capability of a woman to make her own private decision. If there are many options for a woman to make the decision to have a child or not, then this is a better situation for all concerned.
